MONA SANDERS
Mona helps organizations find better ways to solve problems, think more strategically about their growth and development, and increase the alignment and efficiency of their operations to produce measurable results. A former nonprofit executive, who has worked in and with organizations in the public, private and nonprofit sectors for over 17 years, Mona combines strong strategic thinking and planning skills with significant operations and management knowledge. An instinctive connector and effective communicator, she is skilled at designing and facilitating strategic partnerships and designing programs and processes that bring people and ideas together in creative ways. With experience managing diverse teams, a bicultural background, experience traveling extensively in Europe and India and working in India, Mona also brings a cross-cultural perspective to her work. She works with organizations in the US and overseas, and has a special interest expanding opportunities for disadvantaged girls.
Before starting her consulting practice in 2008, Mona was the Executive Director of Mentors, Inc., a nonprofit organization in Washington, DC. She also has served as Director of Policy Development and Special Assistant to the Superintendent for the District of Columbia Public Schools and held leadership roles with the Public Education Network and the Southern Education Foundation. Mona holds an MPA, with a concentration in Strategic Management, from Harvard’s Kennedy School and a BA, in English Literature, from Barnard College. She has served on several nonprofit boards and is a member of the 2007 Class of Leadership Greater Washington.
